Healing well

Thanks to all the kind comments about my cold-thing. I'm feeling better. Still vocally weak and raspy, but the throat swelling and pain is gone.

TMI? Moving on, right...

Worked on my new book today. I have this cool program, Scrivener, a true author tool for Macs. I've never found author tools to be much help, but this one makes organizing thoughts and plotting easy. You can color code and label index cards per point of view, or whatever. You can even write the book in Scrivener then export to Word.

So, I'm having fun.

I really wanted a cool opening line. I've become particular about them. They should, IMHO, reflect the theme or some point of the story. And, thanks to Jesus, i did come up with a great opening line. That was enough to get me going through the opening scenes.

Yesterday I outlined as much of the books as possible - beginning, middle and end - but we shall see if I have enough or too much story. I never know until I get into the book if I need to more research or character development.

Love Starts With Elle is doing well, I think. That's to all who blogged and/or reviewed. It just came out and is already in a second printing!

Look on my home page to see the book trailer.

More later!

Thanks, C. Despite the bad hair day, I guess it turned out well. Who's looking at me anyway? Elle's pretty cute. LOL.

Loved seeing you this past weekend. See you in September, if but for a moment. :)

It's so fun to hear how an author goes about writing a book. Me, I'm just a reader. I love to read, but sadly have never read any of your books. I intend to remedy that as soon as I'm done with the book by Davis Bunn that I'm reading now. I have never been able to read more than one book at a time. So, which of your titles should I start with? Any suggestions?

Hi Lisa,

Oh, I love Davis Bunn's work. I'm happy to say he's a friend and "neighbor."

As for my work, I guess Sweet Caroline is a great start. Love Starts With Elle is a take off of Caroline, but the books are stand alone.

Diva NashVegas is one of my favs. Of course, I love them all, but I remember when I finished Aubrey James's story I felt like I was saying goodbye to a good friend.

But Sweet Caroline is a great book, too. :)

Happy reading and blessings!

You're welcome, Rachel! A second printing - I'm glad "Love Starts with Elle" is doing so well. Your new computer program sounds like fun! I'm starting to pull my notes together to do an outline for my NaNoWriMo novel (www.nanowrimo.org). That's fun, too!

glad you're doing better.

Cool that Elle is doing so well already!

first lines... that is a pet peeve of mine. first lines that don't rock. Not only first lines of a book but first lines of a chapter. That's one thing I'm good at for my crit partners. I usually tell them how to fix them/rewrite them/or show them the first line that is usually somewhere on the page already. =)

Loved the trailer! :) I've been at the beach this week, read three books so far and one of them was Sweet Caroline. I can see why Elle had to have a book too. :)
