My Sister

My sister is ten years younger than I am.

She arrived on a March morning after years of begging my parents for help against my three brothers.

The picture on the left is from June of '75. I'm 14, wearing my Publix uniform.

I've worked there a few weeks probably. Dig my octagon shaped glasses.

Beka is four. Too cute.

Though I have to admit, she wasn't much help in the fight at first. Just too Gumby.

Then, by the time she needed me, I was off, exploring the world, making my way. "It's all about meeeee!"

Now that we're older, we're sisters and friends. She's a great mom to four kids and writes the best
blogs. You have to check them out. And, oh yeah, she's beautiful.

I have three sisters, all older than I. They were, and are, great! What they learned in school, they came home and taught to me - their willing student. Sisters are a true blessing from God.

Sisters are the BEST! I'm only 3 years older than mine and we're best buds. That's an adorable picture of the two of you!

My first time visiting your blog... I'll be back!

P.S. I've never heard of Publix!!??

Hey Rachelle,

Thanks for stopping by! Good to "see" you.

Publix, for all who don't know, is a FABULOUS grocery store chain founded in Florida.

Ask any Floridian you know and they'll go on and on about Publix. ;)

Hey KathyS,

Sisters are the best, aren't they? Since mine is too much younger, it took us a while to find a lot of common ground.

We knew we'd passed into a new phase when I called her from shopping, didn't say hello when she answered, but said, "12s are too big, 8s are a tad tight and there are no 10s. What do I do?"

We still have fun with that convo.
